Oriented Research Groups Program - Phase Two

The Deanship of Scientific Research is launching the second phase of the Oriented Research Groups Program, which is one of the programs supported by the Ministry of Education within the Research and Innovation Plan of the Institutional Funding Program. Through this program, the Deanship seeks to advance the outputs of scientific research and contribute to building a knowledge society. The Deanship also seeks to enhance the research process, collaboration, and joint research work between researchers with high research experience, juniors, and postgraduate students, in order to advance the research skills and capabilities, within diverse and integrated national research priorities and activities, in addition to raise the level of research production in line with the international standards in force in the most prestigious local, regional, and international universities.

Program Goals 

 

REGULATIONS AND CONDITIONS

  1. The principal researcher (group leader) should be a faculty or researcher of King Saud University, of a doctorate or equivalent level holder, and related to the research activity.

  2. Application to the program is available to all members of the affiliated bodies of the university that are related to the research process, such as academic departments, centers, chairs, research institutes, the medical city, etc.

  3. The proposed research proposal should be within one of the research activities of the national research priorities at the university listed in Table (1) and in the field of specialization of the research team.

  4. It is not permissible to apply to the program with scientific articles whose author is the only one, and it is stipulated that the number of researchers in the oriented research group is not less than one co-researcher in addition to the principal investigator (the applicant).

  5. The number of researchers participating in the published research from outside the university should not exceed two-thirds of the total number of members of the research team, with the exception of publication in journals classified within the top 10% of approved journals in the field of specialization according to the classification of (JCR) in the network database Science (Web of knowledge -ISI).

  6. The oriented research group must ONLY publish an original research article. Review articles, editorials, proceeding papers, etc. will not be accepted.

  7. The researcher must submit an independent application for each research he intends to publish, provided that the accepted support requests do not exceed five (5) requests per researcher as a maximum.

  8. The scientific paper should be published in a journal included in the Web of Science database (ISI) and indexed within the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E), or the Social Science Citation Index Expanded (SSCI -E), or the Arts & Humanities Citation Index Expanded (A & HCI), with an impact factor included in the classification of Journal Citation Reports- JCR average (AJIF) when the paper is accepted for publication.

  9. The name of the principal researcher (the applicant) must be included in all published research work.

  10. The research members affiliated with King Saud University must indicate their affiliation with the university as the first affiliation in all scientific publications, as follows: (Department of/Research center/etc.…………, College of……., King Saud University, KSA).

  11. The financial entitlement to the research output is calculated according to the points fulfilled in the points system specified for the three categories in Table (2) as a tool for evaluating the disbursement and evaluating the full amount of support for the research project, provided that the support is provided in the event that the financial allocation is available for the research priority and activity mentioned in the contract signed with the Deanship of Scientific Research.

  12. The entire research team and the correspondent researcher from the university must use the email of King Saud University in all correspondence related to the scientific product and in regard to the scientific publication of the group.

  13. The ONLY entity to be acknowledged for funding this research work outcome is the Agency for Research and Innovation in the Ministry of Education as the sole funder, and not to thank any other supporting or funding party inside or outside the Kingdom, provided that the accepted acknowledgement statement is as follows:

    “The authors extend their appreciation to the Deputyship for Research & Innovation, Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia for funding this research work through the project no. (IFKSURG-2-000)”.

  14. Published or accepted articles for publication in journals classified within the bottom 10% of the journals of specialization according to the classification (JCR) in the Web of Knowledge -ISI database shall not be accepted.

  15. Published articles that exceed 25% similarity content will not be accepted.

  16. The necessity to fully adhere and commit to the rules and standards of scientific research ethics.

  17. Intellectual property rights are subject to the terms of the Institutional Finance Agreement.

*Any paper published in the bottom 10% percentile journals (as JCR's Web of knowledge -ISI) will not be accepted at all.

**If the co-corresponding- author was from KSU, (0.25) points will be given.

***In case of publication in top 10% journals of category (3), less than (1/3) of total authors from KSU will be accepted.

****A maximum of (1.0) point will be allotted in case of having two graduate students, and (0.5) points will be allocated in case of having one graduate student in any paper during one round.

Application

Applications will be received electronically starting from date: 01/04/1444 AH (26/10/2022 AD) via the electronic website.

In addition, a filled-in signed application form should also be sent in both “Word” and “PDF format” along with the required documents during the announced submission period to the program’s e-mail:IFKSURG@ksu.edu.sa  to complete the submitted request.
